Crystal is a painter - when I asked her what she painted she told me she paints Maine. Adept at guitar and banjo, Seeger recorded her first album in 1954, while a student at Radcliffe. She was raised in Maryland by progressive parents who hosted the likes of Lead Belly and Jackson Pollock. The 38 songs are included in the order in which they are mentioned in the memoir so readers can hear what Peggy refers to chapter by chapter.
